Thanks for visiting my blog. I'm new to all this and would really appreciate your feedback (good or bad!) on my cards.

About Me

My photo
I'm a 30-something wife to Gary, and mum to James (4) and Katie (2). After making loads of cards during my first year-long maternity leave, I'm now busy, busy, busy, with work and two kids. I'll get back to it someday though, I'm sure!

Poinsetta Card

I've made a couple of these cards for my Grandparents this year - I think they'll like the vintage look.
The decoupage poinsettas are from Anita's, and came in the doCrafts goody bag. I've used stickles glitter glue in green and platinum to highlight.

My husband's christmas card

This is the card I've made for my husband, Gary this Christmas.
I've made an aperture, which is backed with acetate for the window and the front also has a 3D window ledge. I've folded over the other side to hide all the 'workings'.
The image inside is 'Alex and Felicity with mistletoe' from Digistamp Boutique, which I've coloured with promarkers. The holly and robin stamps were free with a magazine recently.
I've used stickles on everything as usual!

My baby's first Christmas card!

I'm so excited to have made my baby's first ever Christmas card!

I've used stamps from Anita's Christmas range for the christmas tree, rocking horse, train, presents and sugar canes, which I stamped using pale brown and gold ink (except from the tree, with which I used three shades of green). I've coloured them all using promarkers. The papers are the Daisy and Dandelion ones (again!). I've used rather a lot of glitter - the borders are glitterations and I've also used stickles glitter glue for James' name and highlights.
James will be 11 months old this christmas, so I'm hoping that he's just about old enough to have some grasp of the excitement, even if he's more interested in the boxes rather than his presents!

MAWTT Challenge (sketch)

I made this card for a friend who's mum to a toddler. I thought that this Jolly Nation rubber stamp ('Toddler with bowl') would be appropriate!
I've used promarkers to colour. The backing papers are 'Spring Burst' by Papermania. Sentiment is from Clare Curd's signature stamps. Ribbon and brads are also Papermania.
Not a layout that I would have come up on my own, but I'm pleased with the result. That's why I enjoy taking part in challenges so much - such a great way to get new ideas!

MAWTT Challenge - 'Remembrance'

I'll be honest and say that I made this card for another challenge a while ago, but it seemed pretty appropriate for this week's 'Moving along with the times' challenge. Hope you don't mind me entering it for this challenge too, ladies!

I've used the poppy stickers and gold card from the DoCrafts goody bag, along with ribbed pale gold card and gold brads.

Quickie Christmas Cards

I made these four very quick cards using the freebie papers and images in this month's Cardmaking and Papercraft magazine. I thought that they looked pretty naff in the pack, but actually, with a bit of glitter, decoupaging and ribbon, I was quite impressed with the finish. Not bad for a freebie and still loads of papers left in the pack.

Engagement Card

I've combined two challenges in making this Engagement card.
The Passion for Promarkers challenge this week is to use Grass and Canary promarker pens to create a card. I've used them in the main image (obviously!) but also to colour in white card on the punched flowers and leaves. I can't say that I would have thought to use these two colours for the main theme of a card myself, but I'm really pleased with the end result.
The Sketch and Stash challenge is to use their sketch and combine it with new and old stash. The image, which is new, is 'Alex and Felicity' from Digistamp Boutique. I love these cute little characters and have become a big fan of this online store. Everything else, the punch, papers, brads, stickles glitter glue, ribbon and peel-off sentiment are from my craft box.

Friday Sketchers Challenge

I've made this card for my Dad's birthday, using the sketch from the Friday Sketchers Challenge.

The main view is of Blencathra in the Lake District, my Dad's favourite mountain. The smaller one is of Sharp Edge, his favourite part of the mountain.

The papers are mainly from the Papermania 'A Christmas Carol' linen paper stack.

MAWTT Challenge (sketch + embossing)

I've made these two cards using this week's 'Moving along with the times' sketch. Hope you like them!

Papers are from 'My Mind's Eye', and I've used copper and turqoise papers from Dovecraft. The sentiments are stamped then embossed with copper embossing powder.

I made a third card whilst I was at it, although using a slightly different layout.

Altered notepad

This is my first altered notepad. I've used 'Nana's' Kids backing papers and made the flower from a punch and stickles glitter.

Promarker Challenge Card

This week's Passion for Promarkers challenge is to use two colours, poppy and forest green, to make a card.

The image is 'Chloe with snowballs' from Digistamp Boutique (again!) and I've also used satin, blush and caramel promarkers to colour her. I've used gold stickles for the snow and pale green stickles around the image.

I've made the red backing paper myself by stamping it with a Papermania snowflake stamp and gold ink. The sentiment was printed myself and brads and ribbon are also Papermania.

'Passion for Promarkers' challenge card

Week 21's challenge is to use a sketch and any Promarkers.

Promarkers used:

Mouse: Warm grey 3, Coral, Dusky pink

Clothes: Apple, Moss green, Ivory, Forest green

Robin: Cinnamon, Cardinal Red, Poppy

Book: Sandstone, Cinnamon

The image is 'Milly singing carols' from Digistamp Boutique (again!) and I've used Stickles glitter glue for the snow. The silver ribbon is from Paperchase and tag is stamped using the free Daisy and Dandelion sentiment from DoCrafts mag. There's an embossed 'Merry Christmas' board behind the two green panels, but it hasn't really turned out well on this photo.

MAWTT Challenge #15

I loved the look of this week's sketch, but think that it would really have worked better on a larger card - I've used a 5 x 5 card and felt that I was really sqeezing things in.

Anyway, the image is 'Chloe with snowball' (again!) from DigiStamp Boutique. I've used promarkers (mainly forest green and poppy), gold Stickles glitter glue and tissue papers from Mia.

I wasn't entirely sure what was meant by 'paper piecing', but the DT seemed to have stuck paper on as part of the image in place of ink, so that's what I've done with her scarf. I quite like that bit!

Hello Baby!

My first ever attempt at scrapbooking!

James was born on 17th January and I thought that it would be nice to start recording his life so far in a scrapbook, so that I could give it to him as a keepsake on his first birthday. Page 1 is his arrival!

You won't be able to tell from these pictures, but this page is actually quite glittery. I've used Nana's Nursery (baby boy) papers (a stonking £14.99 for 64 8x8 sheets!) as I'd already chosen the coordinating scrapbook. The 'hello baby' heading uses papermania letters in blue, which I've gone over with turquoise sparkles glitter glue.
I'd really appreciate your comments on this one!

Passion for Promarkers Challenge

This is my entry to this week's 'Passion for Promarkers' challenge, which was to use two Promarker colours, COOL AQUA and APRICOT, and include some flowers.

I've only recently started using Promarkers and so this challenge was a good opportunity to add to my stash of colours. I've also used my McGill Petite Petals punch (again!) with apricot and blue papers.

Challenge Card: ('Clare's Challenge' and 'Sketch & Stash')

This week's 'Clare's Challenge' is to create a card using only three colours. I've used green, silver and skin tones. I've combined this challenge entry with one for 'Sketch & Stash', which was to use their sketch. Another Christmas card for my growing collection!

Ingredients: 'Chloe with snowballs' digital stamp from DigiStamp Boutique; Promarkers (apple, meadow green, satin and blush); Backing card (green with snowflakes) from Paperbox (I think!); White and silver organza ribbon from Paperchase; Stickles glitter glue; Sentiment from Daisy and Dandelion christmas paper pack; Brads from Papermania metalics.
The new things I've used are the backing paper and green Promarkers, which I bought to match it. The things I've used from my stash are the sentiment and ribbon.

Pink card

This is the card I've made for a Quick Cards competition. The challenge was to create a pink card as October is Breast Cancer Awareness month.
Mum died of breast cancer in December 2007 so this is something that's really important to me, but I didn't' really want to do a card with a bra on it etc (!) because I'd never know who to send it to! I'm not sure if this will meet their criteria or not, as it was all a little vague, so we'll just have to see... I'd love to know about anyone who's had their card in a magazine or won one of the competitions, because I've sent a few cards in now and never heard anything back.
I've used the 'Becky' image from DigiStamp Boutique (again!) and pastel pink, coral, blossom, pastel blue and vanilla Promarkers (and a few other pens as I'm still building up my Promarker stash).

Winter Fun card

I love this 'Chloe with Snowballs' digital stamp from DigiStamp Boutique and think I'll be using it lots this Christmas. I've entered this card into the Legoland competition in this month's DoCrafts Creativity (to design a card on the theme of 'fun') so fingers crossed...

I've used pastel blue and warm grey 3 promarkers on the stamped image and then used irredescent Stickles to create the snow. The papers are from Dandelion and Daisy and letters are from Papermania.

Needless to say, I've had to order some more Promarkers to play around with this stamp a little more over the next few weeks.

Friday Sketchers Challenge

I've used the free Dandelion and Daisy papers from the DoCrafts website, my McGill petit petal paper punch, purple pearlescant card and stamps from Hobbycraft.

Vintage Christmas Card (Winter Wonderland Challenge)

This challenge reminded me that I've got a disc of vintage Christmas and New Year cards, so it was lovely to make something with one of them. This was so quick and easy to make that I think I'll be making some more to sell at Christmas fairs and for friends and family.

Sunday Sketch and Stash Challenge #11

I've used an embossed butterfly and my favourite new toy - a McGill petit petal punch - to create this card. The sentiment is from individual peel-off letters.

MAWTT #12 / Baby Girl

This is a 'welcome' card for Gabrielle Rose, our friends' new baby.

I've used the free Dandelion and Daisy backing papers on the DoCrafts website and Papermania textured card. I've used Promarkers to colour in the peel-off teddy and also to colour in the pink card, as I didn't have the right colour. The ribbon is from a local sewing shop.

Clare's Challenge (Patchwork)

I loved this week's challenge: Patchwork. I've used up all the coordinating bits of backing paper from my craft table and was really pleased that I've managed to make something out of nothing. The final card made me smile as it reminds me of my mum's attempts at quilting, when all her scraps of fabrics were all over the table in a heap of lovely matching bits. This card was so quick and easy to make, aswell as being frugal and environmentally friendly, that it'll be repeated next time I've got left-overs on my craft table.

MAWTT Challenge #12

This is the Christmas card I've made for this week's Moving Along With The Times challenge. I thought that it was a really interesting sketch this week and couldn't wait to try it out.

I've used the stamp and papers from this month's DoCrafts goody bag, clear crystal jewels, Anita's white organza ribbon, Anita's 'Noel' stamp from one of the Christmas collections and silver card.

I've embossed the stamped image and sentiments using silver ink and embossing powder.
